The C.G. Fitch House was built circa 1900 as a home for T. A. Richardson. Clifford and Charlotte (Davis) Fitch purchased the Fitch Estate in 1950. It served as their private residence for over fifty years. Although remodeled in the 1960's, it retains much of its Victorian charm. The house is furnished with antiques and unique items collected during a lifetime of international travel. Today, son Charles and daughter in-law Marilyn jointly own the property. It is still treasured as a summer retreat for the Fitch family.
The Cottage began life as an office for the warehouse and commercial coal station formerly located on the property (part of the Goodwin ferry port a few yards to the north). After being acquired by the Fitches, the warehouse was torn down, and new docks were built. It was converted to a cottage in the 1950's and Charlotte Fitch's parents, Harry and Sadie Davis called it home for three decades. In the 1980's it was first offered as a vacation rental property.
